We started Kindling in a garage on SE Hawthorne with a 5-kilo Probat and a belief that coffee should taste like where it came from.

Seven years later, not much has changed. We still source directly from producers we trust, roast in small batches, and believe the best cup of coffee is the one that tells a story.

From cherry to cup

Every bag of Kindling coffee travels thousands of miles before it reaches your hands. We source directly from smallholder farms, building relationships that span years and harvests.

In our roastery on SE Hawthorne, we roast each lot in small batches on a vintage Probat UG-22 — listening for first crack and trusting our senses over software.

Come sit awhile

Reclaimed fir countertops, natural light pouring through the corner windows, and a record player in the back. We built a space where good coffee and good company come together.
